Premier Lighting Supports Proxima’s (Premier’s Sister Company) IES Illumination Award for the Fairmont Pacific Rim Ballroom
Premier Lighting, through its expertise in custom manufacturing, played a pivotal role in delivering the lighting for Proxima Lighting Solutions’ award-winning project at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Ballroom. Proxima (Premier’s sister company) was honored by the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Illumination Awards for their exceptional lighting design.
The mixed-use development has quickly become one of Kelowna’s most prominent landmarks. Comprising a 34 story residential tower, a 17 story office block, and a 6 story podium, the project integrates architectural scale with artistic expression. Its façade lighting was conceived to reflect indigenous inspired motifs, transforming the towers into a piece of public art that redefines the city’s nighttime skyline.
The lighting system was designed to be both versatile and efficient. Daily programming highlights the building’s architectural textures through carefully positioned color changing spotlights, uplights, and wall washers. For special occasions, preset themes allow the complex to light up in vibrant displays for events such as national holidays and community celebrations. At the same time, the system ensures energy efficiency, minimizes light trespass, and integrates seamlessly with the building’s management system through a sophisticated Distributed Control System.
Premier Lighting supplied custom fixtures for this project, providing the tools needed to bring Proxima’s design vision into reality. The result is a solution that is technically precise, sustainable, and visually compelling, enhancing the identity of a major urban development while contributing to the evolving character of Kelowna’s skyline.
